In February 2015 I met Susan for the first time during a series of meetings with prospective realtors. I needed to sell my home of five years under difficult circumstances, so this was not an easy transition, one that I knew I’d need support with. Susan stood out from that very first meeting as a consummate professional. She asked excellent questions, went over the whole house with me, offered intelligent and sensitive recommendations for preparing it for sale (even though I had not yet made my decision about which realtor to go with), and made sure that we covered concerns that I had not even considered, but which were very important. Here was an experienced, observant, highly capable individual who was also an excellent communicator. I knew I was in the right hands. What I didn’t know then was how sensitive and ethical Susan is, too. Over and over Susan made sure that I was comfortable with the approach we were taking, and let me set the limits on my availability. She respected all my decisions, while giving me multiple perspectives on any issue that came up, if there were choices to consider, and was frank with me when she felt there was no choice. She had a brilliant photographer take the images, which were beautiful, and showed my modest house to its absolute best advantage on a grey, late winter day. She also staged the house herself, which I now feel is essential. The photographs showed my house to be generous, bright, and welcoming. Unsurprisingly, the house received multiple visits per day. Her beautiful spoken French meant that all visitors felt welcome and understood. In less than three weeks we had an accepted offer on the house, and this at a time when there were six properties for sale on my block! In the inevitable ups and downs that followed (including a building inspection revealing some work needed on the house that I was unaware of), Susan remained positive, objective, encouraging, and realistic. When our very final dealings became complicated and stressful due to issues, Susan was patient, informative, and unfailingly available to me. We sold the house within a few thousand dollars of my ideal price. But what Susan brokered for me was far more than a highly satisfactory deal on my property. She gave me an excellent experience during a difficult time in my life. I trust her and value her opinion greatly.
